If anyone here liked Vendetta but didn't want to pay-to-play for whatever reason, I have good news. Here's an email I got from Guild Software:

This list will be low-volume, no more than twice per month. First up, a
few news items:
*Free play to all previous subscribers through December 31st*
Players who previously subscribed to Vendetta Online now have activated
accounts until the end of the year! As of today, we have added time to
the accounts of all users who were subscribed at any point prior to 45
days ago, going back to the game's initial launch in 2004. So, if you
have an account that was subscribed at one time, or had a retail key
applied, that account may now play for free during the holiday season.
Take the opportunity to say "hi" to some old friends, see what has
changed, or just jump on to shoot a few bots.
